How Beautiful Heaven Must Be – Deon Unthank

It seems every day of my life I notice how this old world has changed. All of the conveniences

that we just seem to take for granted are not really that old. My kids have never lived without color TV, or air-conditioning, or even going to the mall. We live in a blessed atmosphere.

With all of the great inventions we have the benefit of living with today I have to ask is everything better. Don’t get me wrong, I love my car that let’s me get on the Interstate and travel across this country in a much shorter time that it used to be. I love going to the mall and shopping at all those stores at one time. I can’t even imagine trying to sleep on those hot summer nights without air-conditioning. With all of those great “new” inventions and conveniences, still something is missing.

What could possibly be better than what we have today? How about Heaven?

There is a down side to all of the great and wonderful things we live with in this world. Just look around at the human side. It seems as the material things got better, our human nature got worse.

We no longer care if the Spirit of God is in our Churches. Roll your eyes if you want, but we have come a long way baby!!!!! As a kid I used to visit with my friend at his Baptist church. I can remember how I thought is was “quiet” compared to the Pentecostal church I went to, but there were lots of “Amens” there and plenty of people raising their hands in praise to the Lord. Today I don’t find many Baptist churches following that kind of Spiritual move. Those Methodist Churches used to be called “shouting” Methodists, and those Pentecostals used to be called ‘Holy Rollers”. It’s probably been 40 years since I’ve heard either of those churches called those “names”.

What I have noticed is that the church has let down it’s guard and we do not have the love for others that we once had. Today we make a family struggling with finances embarrassingly go before a church board to get help with an electric bill. Today we send a designated “staff” person to make hospital visits. I notice that as the emotion of the church left, so did the spirituality.

I have gone the long way around the block to get to my point. “How beautiful Heaven must be. Sweet home of the happy and free. Fair Haven of rest for the weary. How beautiful Heaven must be.”

The fact is that I just scratched the surface of the bad things in this world. Not only is the church world in difficulty, but the outside world is just plain mean. Kids killing kids. Murders at record numbers with rape and violence going rampant, this is not a nice place to live, but we do have hope.

When we finally get to Heaven, just imagine, streets of gold, gates of pearl, walls of Jasper, no need for air-conditioning, no need for cars, just a perfect atmosphere to live in. There is something far better than all those things. We will be with our Savior and there is one huge benefit of that. The curse will be lifted. Imagine, living in a world with no SIN. Imagine a place where we love each other just like Christ loves us. Imagine a place where everyone is “happy and free”, a place there is “rest for the weary”, imagine.

1 John 3:2

2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

And, how is He???? Full of LOVE and MERCY and GRACE. Wow, “How Beautiful Heaven Must Be”.
