Living In The Past – Bryan Hutson

I’m like most people on social media. I occasionally post “Throw back pictures.” That’s where you find an old picture from “yesteryear” and post it to your social media account.

I actually like looking at old pictures and reminiscing of “the good old days”. But to quote a song; “the good old days weren’t always so good”.

However. I have discovered that with some people, that’s all they seem to post. They seem to be “Living” in THEIR past.” To them, it’s when they may have seemed happier, life was easier, they were more successful or they were somewhat “more important.”

Now, I admit that I’m proud of the things that God has allowed me to accomplish in my career, but I’m also pressing toward what God has in store for my future.

I’ve even seen it in the church world. Churches living off of what they accomplished years ago. They refuse to change and be relevant to reach today’s culture.

“You can’t be ready to accept what God has for your future, if your arms are full of things from the past.”

See, God wants us to be prepared for tomorrow. He has NEW exciting opportunities and He wants to do a NEW THING with our life.

Isaiah 43:19 “For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”

God never changes, but He wants us to experience Him a fresh daily! He desires that we grow in our faith and mature in our walk with Him.

Prayer starter: “Father God, thank You for the blessings of yesterday, but thank you in advance for my tomorrow.  May I sense Your presence tomorrow than I did today. In Jesus name: Amen.”
