REVIEW: The Jennings – Would You Go With Me
Producer: Chris Lynch
Label: Rushing Wind Records
Website: None
I was recently asked to review this project by THE JENNINGS, and I have listened to it several times the last few days, and it is a very nice project with a strong Southern Gospel feel, great arrangements and orchestrations of songs, good solid vocals and the mixture of the songs range from ballads to mid-tempo and a couple of more fast paced tunes. Over-all a really nice collection of music. I wanted to know more about the group and such, but there is no website listed anywhere nor a facebook page, etc. So in saying all of that, I am not sure if this is a family group or some friends singing together, etc. It looks like there are 3 singers, and their names are Sam, Arthur and Dorothy Jennings Tucker.
The project starts off with a bouncy semi-fast opener that has kind of a McGruder feel to it, with a wonderful fiddle solo every now and then, the song is entitled JACOBS LADDER, not the familiar one we have heard before on projects…the project then weaves back and forth to some songs that are southern gospel jazz feel, to some very nice ballads. I loved the following songs (wish I knew who wrote them), WOULD YOU GO WITH ME, HE LED ME, IN HEAVEN, BROKENESS (powerful song that all of us can relate to about the power of the cross and His unconditional love for us) and it ends with a song that has a really unique way of talking about the Cross, entitled THE TREE.
I do wish I had more to go on about this group and the project, but overall, again a nice project…I give it a 2 and ½ stars out of 5.
