Weston & Christy Hinson - Let’s Have Some Church

Producer: Information Not Provided

One of my favorite things to do in the early morning is to get a cup of coffee and sit down and listen to NEW music. This morning was one of those mornings where I was rushing around, feeling disconnected and in a hurry, but knew that I had a couple of new projects I wanted to and needed to take a listen to.

What a pleasant surprise awaited me as I began to savor the new project, “Let’s Have Some Church” by Weston & Christy Hinson.

As a huge fan of family groups and mixed groups, I was hoping this CD would live up to my expectations of what I knew, remembered and loved about the original Hinson’s. And sure enough it has!

Starting off with a song that will certainly get your feet tapping and your hands clapping, “That’s What My Shout Is About” will be a concert favorite as will be “Let’s Have Some Church”, either one of these songs would be great openers for Westin and Christy’s concerts.

Both Weston and Christy are in top notch vocally with their performances on this recording, and after listening to it several times over, I am a Weston Hinson fan. He has that rich heart vocal tone like his dad, the legendary Kenny Hinson. Weston sings lead on the majority of the project and yet Christy holds her own, with her strong and powerful vocal on the songs she is featured on.

This project has a definite country feel with its musical style featuring a haunting steel guitar on several tracks, but it will also appeal to many Southern Gospel-Inspirational music fans.

Several tracks that stood out to me, that will push those heart strings of us “ballad lovers” are, “On The Other Side of This’, (one of my favorite songs on the project), then the songs, “The Answer”, “Hope” and a wonderful new version of the beautiful Hymn, “I’d Rather Have Jesus”. These songs will certainly bring the message of Hope to so many of the listeners who are walking thru those dark seasons of life.

A wonderful bonus is the new recordings of the classic songs, “The Lighthouse” and “God Walks the Dark Hills’. Both new versions are still familiar to their original recordings from the past, yet there are some small subtle nuances that you will find so refreshing. Great classic songs will always live on, and these two songs are right at the top. I love that they put them on this recording. Great performances.

Two songs that finish the project out, are “Finally Home” and “He Fixed It For Me”, both made me think about all God has done for me and the incredible promise of tomorrow for all of us.

This project is a definite “must have” for the many Hinson fans, as well as hopefully introducing them to a new audience out there who love and appreciate great “heart music”.

This music made me want to go see them in concert! Hope they come close soon!
