Still The God Of Miracles

Every year, my husband Aaron and I work at a church youth camp down in Mauldin, SC. As a child, I camped there from age 6 to 18, then became a counselor at age 19. We still take one week out of every year to be counselors. So, this June was no different from others. This was my 21st consecutive year of being a part of this particular youth camp. As a counselor, you are responsible 11 of these kids for the week, meaning we eat together, play together, worship together, and all sleep in the same dorm room. Essentially, I am their mom for the week, hence the nickname Mama Vic.

This year, I had a 17 year old set of twins. One of those twins was handicap, in a wheel chair and blind. There were around 300 kids at camp this year, ages 15-18. On Wednesday night, we were in the alters praying over these teenagers and making our way through the crowd in the alter. Aaron and I got to this particular girl and started to pray for her. A few minutes later, I got up and walked over to another child and started praying. It hadn’t been but maybe one minute, and I felt lead to go back over to her. When I knelt back down in front of her, a few of the other girls in my room had gathered around her and were crying uncontrollably. One of them looked at me and yelled at me, “Victoria!” I looked at her thinking something was wrong, and she proceeded to look at the girl in the wheelchair and cry, “Stephanie! Tell her! Tell her!” About that time, Stephanie started moving her head back and forth and cried out, “I can see! I can see!” God healed that girl from blindness, right in front of my eyes!

Now, you would think that’s the best part, but it gets even better! When we got back to the dorm room that night, one of the other girls in my room asked if she could give a testimony. I agreed, and she began speaking. She proceeded to tell about the rough life that she had lived and how she cut herself and was hooked on pills. My heart was breaking for her, then she said something that none of us expected. She said, “Recently I made the statement, The day I believe in God is the day I see a blind man see. Well, tonight I watched Him heal a blind girl with my own eyes, and I BELIEVE!!! I gave my heart to God and will never look back!” That’s what it’s all about!!! Everything God does is to lead people to Him. He is still the God of miracles, and I’m so thankful that I got to witness and be a part of that miraculous series of events!
