New Series Available from StowTown Records

Nashville, TN (September 12, 2017) – StowTown Records is pleased to announce the beginning of a very special StowTown Records Vault Series. The brand new series opens with one of the most popular quartets in the history of gospel music, The Cathedrals.

“The fans of The Cathedrals have been asking us to re-release projects that have been out-of-print for years, including all of the videos that were only on VHS,” said Ernie Haase, former tenor of the fan-favorite quartet. “The StowTown Records Vault Series is taking advantage of my unique relationship with the Younce/Payne families to bring the fans what they want. Keeping the legacy of George and Glen alive and available to a new generation seems right and fitting.”

“Our first endeavor will be the September 8 re-release of Radio Days on CD and Deep In The Heart Of Texas on DVD,” added Haase. “On that special night in Dallas, Texas, we performed most of the songs that were on the Radio Days CD live at Prestonwood Baptist Church. The art form of four-part southern gospel singing, accompanied by just a piano and bass guitar, along with George’s amazing down-to-earth emcee work, makes Deep In The Heart Of Texas one of the MUST-HAVE videos for any Cathedrals fan, whether young or old!”

Formed over 19 years ago by Deon & Susan Unthank originally as, the site was birthed from an email discussion group by the same name. The SoGospelNews email discussion list was created by the Unthanks after the Singing News shut down its extremely popular discussion list. SoGospelNews started as a simple webpage listing artists, fans, individuals, etc. that were avid supporters of the newly formed SoGospelNews talk list. The site eventually took on printing news for Southern Gospel artists, and eventually took on reviewing the latest recordings from both signed and independent artists within the small genre. SoGospelNews became the most viewed Southern Gospel website on the Internet with over 4,000,000 hits per month.

The Unthank family are now involved in the site, as well as the addition of over two dozen staff writers. The website is based out of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. In April 2010, SoGospelNews changed its name to The name change allows them to cover news items of not only Southern Gospel, but also Country Gospel, Inspirational, and Black Gospel.

On January 5, 2011, Susan Unthank passed away, leaving the website in control of Deon, their son, Chris, and their daughter Amy.
