Ashley DeRamus Foundation Supports Texas And Florida Hurricane Relief

HOOVER, Alab. – (September 18, 2017) – The Ashley DeRamus Foundation is known for it’s incredible work in bringing awareness to the needs of the Down Syndrome community. The Foundation has worked with the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) for years and know that the organization is fiercely competent and all the contributions will go to help the Down Syndrome needs from the hurricanes.

The NDSS team has reached out to local affiliates and Buddy Walk® locations in the Texas communities that have been impacted by Hurricane Harvey. The needs of the families there are each different and unique.

NDSS is dedicated to assisting Texas families and has created a fundraising page to support its affiliates and Texas Buddy Walk® events with 100% of the proceeds going back to those impacted.

NDSS is also launching an awareness t-shirt to support those families impacted by the hurrications. All of the proceeds will be distributed to its local Texas Buddy Walk® locations and affiliates.

Ashley DeRamus Foundation and NDSS also supports hurricane relief for Florida:

“The measure of a community is not by how high it stands in times of peace, but how it rises in the face of tragedy. First, it was Hurricane Harvey that brought with it floods that have displaced hundreds of thousands of Americans. Today, it is Hurricane Irma, which has bestowed an untold amount of damage on the great people of Florida. While the homes, neighborhoods and communities in Florida will never be the same, one thing will remain constant: our steadfast support of all those rising through this horrible tragedy. As the leading human rights organization for all individuals with Down syndrome, the National Down Syndrome Society looks forward to providing all necessary resources and support for those affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. As we did with Harvey, we will reach out to our Florida affiliates and Buddy Walk® programs affected by Hurricane Irma to affirm our commitment to the Down syndrome community and beyond.”

Absolutely Gospel Music
Formed over 25 years ago by Deon & Susan Unthank originally as SoGospelNews.com, the site was birthed from an email discussion group by the same name. SoGospelNews.com became the most viewed Southern Gospel website on the Internet with over four million hits per month.

The website is based out of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. In April 2010, SoGospelNews changed its name to AbsolutelyGospel.com, allowing the site to cover Southern Gospel, but also Country Gospel, Inspirational, and Black Gospel.

On January 5, 2011, Susan Unthank passed away, leaving the website in control of Deon, their son, Chris, and their daughter Amy. Deon passed away on December 17, 2022 right after arranging the sale of the site to good family friend Bev McCann. The site is now rain by Bev McCann and the Nashville 37201 media group. Deon & Susan's son, Chris Unthank, is the site's editor-in-chief.
